Domestic Battery

Family violence charges are getting a lot of attention from the legislature resulting in harsh penalties for conviction of an act of violence against a family member. The consequences of a conviction for domestic battery not only include a criminal record, probation or even jail time, but also include exclusion  from becoming a US Citizen (if you are an immigrant), and exclusion from government jobs, contracts, licenses, and even some professions. The consequences of pleading guilty to a domestic violence charge can be severe, even if you don’t serve jail time. This is a charge that should be fought.
